G is for George McClellan. He was a army commander. He had organized the famous army of the Potomac. He played an important part in the beginning because he had to teach men how to fight in the Union. He hadn’t moved to Richmond until he got the warning from Abraham Lincoln. He had taken about 100,000. It had taken him about a month to capture Yorktown.
